1 kg fresh Prawns
1 large onion
5 -6 ripe tomatoes
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 tablespoons fish masala or chilli powder
1 teaspoon jeera powder
5 cloves of garlic (finely crushed)
2 sprigs of curry leaves
Oil for braising onions and spices
Clean prawns.Heat the oil and mustard seeds. When the seeds start to pop add the onions and brown lightly. Add the chillies and curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds. Reduce the heat and add the fish masala. Be careful not to burn, remove from heat and completely lower the heat. Add the garlic paste and tomatoes. Add ½ cup of water and cook on medium heat until the tomatoes are thoroughly cooked. Add prawns and cook for about 15 minutes or until water has evaporated.
Generously sprinkle with coriander and service with soft white bread, rotis or rice.
